This is a 6" diameter photo of a boy and a girl. I'm assuming it's an antique. There is a stamp on the back but I can only make out "portrait co," "Chicago," and possibly Columbia??? It's really hard to read. There is no coating over the picture. It's actually in great shape. I just haven't found anything online that has provided me with any info. Any input is greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
This looks to me like a celluloid button photograph that measures about 6" and used to come with a stand to rest the photo on like a little easel. The Columbia Portrait Company was in Chicago and made portraits from about 1893 to 1940. Yours is precious and looks like the late 1800s maybe wee early 1900s. Hope this helps you.
Thank you so much for your helpful input, reneewv!! This helps me out a lot! I saw it at an antique shop in a bin for like 50 cents. I had to have it! I love old pictures of people. My husband doesn't understand my fascination with this since I have no connection to the people in the pictures, but I like to display them and just let my mind wander about the people, their lives, what it was like to live in those days. It's just so intriguing to me. Thanks again!!
I'm glad I could help. I love them as well and yours is so wonderful!
Thank you!!
