Picked up a few dolls 2 days ago, this one seems to be hand made and face painted, all cloth. Where these dolls folk art and or made in the US ? Looks like something hung on mouth.
Thank You

Very nice boudoir doll many were made in France . Some more elaborate than others . Like real eylashes. Always heavy make up . The one thing on your doll I need to see is close up of feet . And clothes . Some were made from mask faces and a pattern for body most are factory made and very deco looking as they had high popularity in 1920-40s .
These were not toys they sat on your bed as a decoration . They made versions that had a cigarette in mouth which are sought after .

I can't see hand does it have stitched fingers ?
Manikin, new photos loaded, it looks like something used to be in her mouth, 2 small holes.
The hole for a cigarette is usually larger as the size that went in her mouth was about size of a real one . She looks factory made and is in very good condition . Would love to see your other one also .
The hole may have held a cigarette tied to mouth it is possible just never saw one done that way but you could say she might be a smoker in a description .
Hi Manikin, Thank You for all that info, though the others I sold yesterday at swap meet, they where Alexander dolls 1960's.
Well this one is special anyways :-) solved
Thank You....
