I'm helping a good friend clean up his family's museum and we came across this tool. we have no idea what it is, can anyone help us out? There doesn't seem to have any markings on it, the wooden handles are about 2' long. We really don't know much else about it. We've had a lot of different guesses but nothing that has panned out as a "for sure". Any ideas? Thanks.

I don't think so, as the handles come together the one part pushes up so what ever it is hooked onto would be squeezed. Thanks though.

What kind of museum are we talking here?

It was a small private museum with a little something of everything. They are selling off due to medical reasons. The smaller items are being sold online the rest at a sale in a week or so.

Crazy enough we have the same discussion going on here!! An uncle bought this tool at a flea market and we don't know what it is. Did you have any luck?

I was thinking about it being a track pin press but it appears to have been cleaned up so the jaws look almost new.
