we just bought this pedal plane at an antique mall in Massachusetts while on vacation. We fell in love with it immediately and already have a place to hang it in our house but we don't know much about it. After a little internet searching, I believe it's a Murray Pursuit, but not sure what year and not sure if the graphics are original. Does anyone out there know more about this item? We only paid $65 bucks for it so if it's really a Murray we hit the jackpot! Next question, I need a shipper to get this to California. Right now its in the basement at my brothers house in Mass. Any suggestions?
It's very cool:) Welcome to CW.
im not too sure on airplane pedal cars.....but if u can remove the grommets and see the seat there should be a company logo...i still think u got cheap....and i like shipping with fedex better....i think its a little cheaper than ups and get it faster due to ups being so busy
I'm sorry to report that the livery points to this being an AirFlow Collectibles reproduction, made in China between 2009-2017.
You can compare the faces of the different planes for yourself to determine the differences:
• AFC Reproduction - https://www.sweetretreatkids.com/airflow-collectibles-shark-attack-pedal-plane.html
• Murray Original - https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1941-MURRAY-FLYING-TIGER-PEDAL-AIRPLANE-260516
• Steelcraft Original - https://www.liveauctioneers.com/en-gb/item/16519612_a79-24-1941-steelcraft-flying-tiger-pedal-plane
Your model most resembles the AFC one.
Don't be too disappointed though, since AFC went belly-up, their reproductions tend to carry some value. While not as prized as Murray/Steelcraft originals, I've seen an AFC Shark sell for $850 USD as recently as 2021 on Live Auctioneers.
