I have a Western Electric sign that I saved from a dumpster 35 years ago. Can't find any info on how common or rare this might be. It measures about 18" by 14". I just like the art deco look...

Hi, the sound sign was made to hang in the foyer of a Movie Theatre or Cinema by Western Electric, one of the biggest suppliers of projection sound equipment in the world. The Western Electric company introduced their improved "Mirrophonic" sound system (projector sound head/amplifiers/cellular horn and speakers in 1936 in the USA (1937 in the UK). It was a highly successful improvement on the early talkie systems, but short lived as after the second world war new systems were introdued including magnetic stereo. In the UK Western Electric launched its post war sound under the Westrex brand. Some Western Electric sound equipment is collected by lovers of quality audio equipment, including myself.
