This is a wooden, 8 bottle coca-cola crate with rope handles. It is marked '$1 deposit' and 'bottling plants California, Oklahoma'.
I bought it at a vintage and reclamation yard, I am not interested in value or resale value, I am just interested in finding out history of this crate. The reclamation yard is a highly esteemed one in the UK so I would presume it is genuine, and paint quality seems as though it is original.
Thanks for any info/advice that could be given!
From what I've seen of other crates like this, it does seems genuine. I haven't seen the rope handles in these crates before, but that might be irrelevant. It could have been added on to the original crate. The text on the side of it seems genuine as well. Very nice crate, nice find! :)
Painted crate with decorative writing with decorative rope. Not original
I was thinking the same, @Edisonfan - Its a great fake though, but the roped handles kinda gave it away.
I agree with Edisonfan and BinaryReflex above, neat piece but not an original Coca-Cola product.
