Unique and cool piece . I wonder what it represents .

Thanks Marty, I know that Liebermann designed a number of similar pieces for Rosenthal, e.g. child riding a turtle, girl riding a bird, woman riding an ostrich, child with a penguin, "faun" with a crocodile, man reading to a bird.

Liebermann was a sculptor who worked in various media, e.g. he made a bronze of Adolf Hitler's niece that Hitler had reproduced for various of his residences.

I have seen this before, and always hated it because I do not own it. You have some very beautiful pieces I envy ! I never realized the base is so large.

So little of this kind of stuff came around in this area. Must have been wonderful to see the shop windows in old Germany or France.

I had a lieberman once, cannot remember too well, they said it was rare but that was in the nineties - it had a bear and maybe a drum ?

Perfect name! 'Capriccio' means a painting or other work of art representing a fantasy or a mixture of real and imaginary features!

capriccio actually means more like something beautiful and somewhat unpredictable - which doesn't follow the rules, as are commonly understood. it is also used to describe paintings of views which don't really exist.
