Would you be able to direct me to someone who could determine if a laminated rosewood chair recently inherited from my mother is the work of John Henry Belter?
The attached photos show the chair that I own and have been told is a pressed laminate rosewood from the mid-1800s. Could you, or anyone you could direct me to, determine if it was made by John Henry Belter?
Thank you,
Patrick Overman.

Cant answer your question...but LOVE the chair!
Definitely not by John Henry Belter. He never made any chairs similar to your chair.
His work had much carved decoration which is lacking in your example. I have a lot of books with his work in it, but definitely nothing close to what you have matches his esteemed work.
Here is one chair online that is attributed to Belter but is one that should be;

Agree with blade-- yours is a nice chair typical of the Victorian era, but it is nothing like any Belter piece that I have ever seen.
