I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of button it is. It was found near the duck river near Shelbyville Tn. The area is know for the battle of Farmington but I can't find anything about the item.

I am very fascinated with this button. I rotated the photo on my screen and it looks to me like an ancient Torah Scroll in the background with perhaps 2 doves facing each other with olive branches around them. Which would be indicative of something perhaps Hebrew? I will keep searching for you.

It's the National emblem of France 1912-1953 The letters underneath are R and F (Republique Francaise)

Also the faces and axe was later used in the italian fascist flag

Actually, it's still the official emblem so hard to tell the age. At least 20th cent. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_emblem_of_France#/media/File:Emblem_of_France_consulate.jpg

Sorry if I revealed everything at once, got a bit carried away when I saw the bundle and axe in the back. Thought at first it was a secret fascist club... That's how I googled it. Never knew France still has that symbol. Next time I won't start with a complete spoiler. Nice find!
