Folks, can anyone help identify this old tool please. Total length is 6"
Metal end ins 1cm by 1.5 cm. Has grooved polished end with initials carved in the handle. The metal end is fixed directly onto the carved wooden handle.

This is a cobbler's tool used for finishing the trimmed edge of several pieces of leather after they have been sewn together - such as a boot's welt.
Thought it may have been for leatherwork - many thanks for the update
