I purchased this set yesterday at a second-hand store. I knew immediately upon entering the store that this was mid-century modern without even looking for a stamp; as I grew up in that era. The table has 2 leaves. The picture has both leaves in the table. I do not believe that the fabric is original to the chairs. The cushions are very lumpy due to deteriorated filling - excelsior, horsehair? - I have no knowledge of what was used for these chairs. I didn't want to take them apart until I could find out if the fabric was indeed original. There are some marks under the table itself that read: controlled by P-1 and the number 34 on each of the table sections. All things considered the condition of this set is very good. There are a couple of minor scratches on the leaves. The table came with felt protectors which were ordered custom for the table and leaves - so it was well cared for. At this point the wood appears to just need a good drink of oil. I have tried to find this particular set online, but haven't had much luck. I do not know the designer, as DUX had a few. I don't know if this set originally had more chairs - there were only the four with this table. I am not sure what the wood is, but as I have been looking online it appears it may be teak. Any help in further identification would be appreciated.
