This form of trivet was popular in the 1700's. The fork attached to the back is adjustable and was used to support the long handle of the pan or skillet that was resting on it. This came from the collection of one of NJ's highest end dealers of American country primitives/antiques (in my opinion). He doesn't deal with just anyone, an appointment is needed. Going to his house was a treat in itself. I hope to return.....when I have money. lol.
Can we add a "Hearth Antiques" or an "Iron" category? Thanks!
