I bought these 6 chairs at an auction in Cork, Ireland, where they were listed as being possibly American and from the early 20th Century. I was wondering if anyone could give any further ideas about their origin and date, they seem similar to examples I've seen from Australia and the U.S., but not as elaborate, so does that mean they are European and possibly English. The seat covering is a hard wearing synthetic material, possibly replacing an original leather one and I cannot see any evidence of a previous woven reed or rattan material for the seat. I think they are a mix of oak and beech and are 40 inches high with the seat being 17 x 15.5 inches.
The crest board was machine made as opposed to being pressed or carved. I would research after 1940's
