This is chintzy in a really good way. If I didn't get one of these every so often, César would start quietly getting rid of the hoard.
It was originally more heavily gilded and only traces remain on the body - probably of stems, possibly of insects.
    It is 14cm high.

      Hi Ian, a lovely vase & snap..http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/194763-green-cased-spatter-vase?in=user
Other than being 1/2 the size of yours here, they look surprisingly alike, the enamelling & they have the same foot.
Are you indicating in your post that you come across vases like this often?
This is the first time I've come this, or any Welz Oxblood decor.
Thank you for posting it & thanks to you and Craig I'll update my post accordingly :)

I wouldn't say often, but I am sure Peggy (Sklo) would agree that the Victorian or Edwardian Welz or the more conservative Art Deco stuff is seen over here somewhat more frequently than the cased stuff. I have written before that I am not sure whether there were real differences in what was imported into the UK (which I somehow doubt) or that there are simply more "Murano" (Welz and other) collections out there?

When I say, "If I didn't get one of these so often..." I mean the granny look for César, rather than this exact décor!

Hi, Ian, you raise some interesting points. i wonder if there were more Welz imports to the UK than the US in Victorian times? Recently I've grown to love the granny look. Maybe because I'm of granny age (I've caught grannyitis, I wouldn't look twice at this sort of thing in my youth)

LOL. Should I agree or not? :-)
