I found this in a NJ thrift store today. They thought it might be an old chemistry bottle. I can't find anything on the web that even remotely looks like this. I started having my doubts about the chemistry angle and started to search for oil and vinegar bottles! I'm pleased that I found nothing down that road. Any help that you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated. No markings exist at the bottom or anywhere else on the glass.

    Thanks!

Hi, Czechoslovakian, and you had started down the right route. Oil and vinegar is correct. Here is a link, to one with original export label for France. Probably made by the Kavalier glassworks, who made both domestic and industrial/scientific glass.

It would appear that only heat-proof and borosilicate glass from Kavalier, was marked under various labels, Palex from 1908, Sial, 1950s, I think, Isis, and Simax @ 1958, (domestic wares from 1968 onwards).

Hi Verretcheque, well, I feel silly for purchasing this based on my assumption that it was used for chemistry. But, you've made me feel better about my second assumption that it might be used for oil and vinegar. I thank you so much for taking the time to shed some light on this. It probably would have been impossible to crack the case without your knowledge. It still looks cool, so I'll find a spot for it somewhere!

      Thanks!
