This is an ebonised Sucessionist German clock made about 1900. The clock has an oak frame with a black lacquer coating. The silvered dial is worn and have typical German style numerals of the period. The bottom half has a door with 3 ribbed panes of glass, thought which you can see the pendulum swing. It stays wound for about 3 days, and chimes the hours and half hours.
I have this on my study wall. It was cheap to buy and very expensive to get going. Apparently German clock movements of this period are not great quality, and my clock repairer would have preferred if I had bought French or English. It has a strong look about it though. The chiming also keeps me organised at work as I never follow the time, so it gets me to tele and video meetings on time.
very nice...
