A few weeks ago, I entered a post on, "keys used to wind & set old pocket watches", & mentioned pocket watches that have a "hidden key."
This Rockford Watch Co. pocket watch, is a key wind & key set movement, circa 1879, with a crown, when unscrewed, is the key to wind & set the watch. This 18 size, Model 1, full gilt plate movement is marked, Rockford Watch Co, Rockford, Ill. 76075 (serial number), and also marked, EXTRA. The dial is marked, Rockford Watch Co. Illinois. This watch is wound with the key, at the winding arbor post on the back of the movement & the time is set with the key on the dial side, at the post in the center of the hour & minute hands.
Thanks for looking,
Dave

I would have never suspected that un-screwing that would produce a key instead of setting the time! Guess that's what you experts are for.

I remember seeing the poste, but apparently didn't clk a LUV, -- or read it! LOL! Now, I am informed. I may be a little slow, - but I eventually get there! LOL! Hey, we are in the "slow season" here !!
BB2, I'm always in the "slow season". Thanks for stopping by again and for the appreciation.
Great info that I will remember (or try to) LOL! I like to ask good looking girls in the markets, "Do you remember what else I came in here for?". I always get a smile & sometimes more! LUV the more!
