Hello, I too have a mystery Meerschaum pipe. I cannot find any written or pictoral history on this design that includes silver at both the bowl and stem. The bowl has a silver hallmark stamped into it with the initials "J H" that are separated by two lines in the form of a cross. The case itself is of a hard leather and has the name of Emil Thonfeld Leipzig Neumarkt 5 embossed in gold on the iside cover. I would appreciate any information on its history. Thanks in advance, Chip

Emil Thonfeld would more than likely have been the retailer for this pipe. A similar one sold on ebay a while back. I do not have a worthpoint account to see what it sold for, but here is the link.

Thank you very much for the information. I did some research and found a possible name of Johannes Hossfeld of Ruhla who could have carved/stamped the pipe. Do you know if that could be a possibility?
