1970s ROBOT COMMANDO (aka Baby Thunder) model kit made in Japan by IMAI.
It is based on the popular 1961 robot toy by Ideal.
The kit is made of plastic with a friction-powered motor and spring loaded missile.
I've been collecting mechanized robots off-and-on for almost my entire life.
All of my time & money spent on robots probably all rooted on my love for a singular robot (Super Rotate-A-Matic Astronaut) that my Mom gifted me with for Christmas when I was 7 or 8 years old (1970) and I still proudly & lovingly display as the gem of my collection.
Packaging all those gears & wheels & lights in a compact tin package piqued my imagination and simply had to be a contribution to my chosen career: Industrial Design.
Getting older now, so I thought I would start to document some of these hidden-in-my-closet gems for insurance purposes and have them "organized" for my children.
I'll add more of them here as I continue to photograph them.
