    (413 items)

There are 2 vintage spreading knives, with Bakelite handles. These are stamped, James Ryals and Co Ltd, Sheffield, Firth Stainless. The teaspoon is marked NAAFI, which stands for Navy, Army, Air Force, Institute ( which was the supply department of the British Armed Forces). On the back of the spoon it is marked NAAFI 2962, which is the item number in the stores. These spoons were used by the armed forces during the Second World War 2. The hole at the top of the spoon was for attaching a chain so it didn't get lost or stolen. It is also marked T.Turners Hygienic.
The other spoon which I have no idea of age, is for shaking sugar and is Marked on the back Sipelia. Stainless Chromium Plate on Nickel Silver Sheffield England.

      Interesting grouping.

I would think the spoon with holes is some sort of dual purpose sauce ladle that allows you to get pieces out and let the sauce drip off or collect the sauce and pour it out depending on which side is used.

I am always amazed at the sheer amount of unique pieces with old silverware. The Victorian table (earlier than this) had strange serving/ eating pieces for every imaginable task!

Thanks Scott, for your comment, these don't belong to me they are a friends. The ladle spoon is a sugar sprinkler used to sprinkle caster sugar onto varies things but frequently onto Strawberries or Raspberries. This spoon comes from the time when there was a utensil for every possible event.
The one that interest me is the NAAFI spoon.
Yet again thanks for your interest.
