My grandfather purchased this item at Canton, Tx for my mother on her 16th birthday. (1973). At the time, my mom said the woman he purchased it from said it was about 30 years old. My mother has had it hanging on her wall by the rope around its neck, every since I can remember....and I am 37 years old now. The paint is glossy with what looks like fine lines (maybe from aging or maybe they have just always been there) but otherwise it's in perfect condition.

Hi as a heirloom gift she is priceless but she is a low brow china doll reproduction made by a person in a ceramic doll making class . She is not a antique low brow china , Many women made these reproduction type dolls during a time Antique ones were selling very high . In today's market a low brow china a true antique made from end of 1880's up till 1920's and some even into 1930's . Whoever made her should have but their name on it and maybe date date as required by law as to not confuse reproductions from true ones . What is marked on back of neck .

I should add I can tell by painting and 2nd a true antique china doll never has crazing of the glaze like a repro does .

Well the person that made it just didn't sign like they should have but it is homemade like I said in a doll ceramic class . So her value is in it was passed down in family but no resale value . These dolls were made in classes from late 1950's and still are being done although the craze to make them has diminished since the price of real antique doll is so low now unless a person just wants to enjoy making their own . You would get a blank mold and you paint it class fires it and gives you pattern for body and sells arms and legs to you .
