Hi there:
I believe this is Canadian AltaGlass Ashtray. It does have notches on the side, so must be an ashtray. There used to be a wonderful site on-line with many examples of AltaGlass ( but alas it has disappeared ). At one time, I did find a very, very close match to this -- so I do believe this to be CANADIAN ART GLASS - ALTAGLASS ( from Alberta). It is about 7 inches by 7 inches with mottled green design.
