This is an ovate handaxe, probably excess of 100,000 years old. Made from English flint found in Norfolk in Victorian times and lived in a small museum until recently when it closed.
This handaxe would have been made by Homo Habilis or Erectus as it is of the more simple kind and could be anything up to 500,000 years old. Whilst simple these were very effective tools and sit nicely in the hand (it is like holding a piece of magic). I have seen someone use one to skin and break up a dear carcass, and whilst I don't really want to do that I do know that these things do work.
