My grandparents were married in 1914 and I truly think this was a wedding gift, but not sure. I can't find a manufacturer name anywhere - can anyone tell me anything more about this mirror?

UPDATE!! Just found it! This mirror is called "Baroque Cherub & Flute Gold Bevelled Mantle Mirror", made by the Marshall Field & Co. of Chicago in 1907.

I guess it still could have been a wedding gift in 1914.

    So excited! Mystery Solved

I have the same Mirror. I bought mine from an estate auction of a Antique Dealer. I was told he got it from a Bar in Minnesota. Mine had the same dull gold finish as yours when I got it. Before hanging it in my living room I applied gold leaf to it, and it really made the details pop. I think your 1914 era is probably pretty close considering the wood frame with applied gesso decorations. Definitely a mass produced piece.

rocker-sd, thanks, appreciate your input! Were you able to obtain a value on your mirror (only asking for insurance purposes)?

I been in the Antique trade for over 45 years, based on that experience I would say a fair insurance replacement value would be about $750. but good luck finding another one.

Rocker-sd thanks! So even though they were mass-produced, do you think it's safe to say it's rare now?

I would say it's still a rare piece, Gesso is pretty fragile. Not a lot of survivors in good condition.

rocker-sd, thank you for your input, much appreciated! Have you looked at any of my other posts? All of my posts are family items, some pre-date 1914 -- would definitely appreciate any suggestions or input! Ho2cultcha, thank you for loving!

Help! Tried to change to "mystery solved" and it's giving me an error, stating "this is still a mystery" --- what does this mean? what do?

      Aura, thank you!
