I know this crib dates back to 1914 because when they purchased their home then, they found it in the attic. There is no manufacturer name anywhere. Can anyone tell me anything about this piece?

GREAT crib!
Looks to be late 19th century-- updated at some point with the addition of casters and wood slats for the bottom.
Wood looks to be Walnut and I would call the turnings "spool".
These are great decorator pieces, but I would NOT recommend using them for actual cribs. As a rule, most aren't close to modern safety standards and could pose a risk for infants.

I would give it much more age. Pictures are blurry but there are obvious signs it wasn't mass produced. As Scott mentioned be careful if you try to sell this. The federal crib standard act applies to all cribs, even private sales. If you sell it as a crib and an infant is injured or worse, you are liable. Better to offer it up as a display piece etc. with a warning to not use it as a baby crib for human use. The last two we had I sold to a lady that collected dolls to use in her show room. These are worse than old Lane Cedar chests.
fhrjr2 - how much more age would you guess? My grandparents' home was built in 1894 -- when they bought it 1914-16, my grandfather found this crib in the attic! So we have no clue how old it actually is. No worries though, this crib will never be sold, it currently sits (on display only) in the same room it's been in for the last 100 years (still in my grandparents' home). Would really like to know how old you think it is -- thanks!
