This is my family bible that was just passed on to me by my grandmother. It was my greatgrandmothers bible. The bible it self im not sure how old but, it goes back to the Civil War time with my family members names and births. It is pretty much falling apart so it has the yarn around it. Any ideas on how much and where can I have it redone or should I leave it as is?
I just found my family's from 1888, it's in swedish.
I have seen some old books that have been rebound, but have the original cover "bound in" which seems like a good way to protect an old book while making it more useable and still preserve its originality. Maybe a slip cover/ custom made box. I'm sure there are other options too. I don't know any archival type book bindery resources in our area (Minneapolis) but there must be a few around.
Awsome thanks for the tips
