Thank you katherinescollections, toolate2, and fortapache!
We got a similarly designed one from a flea market years ago. Were told it was an old hospital bed.
Thanks captainslack, I hadn't thought of that (even though this is a double?)
Thanks, officialfuel.
When I first saw it -- That is what I thought -- Hospital -- but then I have also seen these in homes too, recycled from days gone by.
Will look around...
Only thing though, it's a double. Hospitals weren't in the habit of using doubles for beds I don't think? Anqiquerose, thanks, I appreciate it!
sorry for the misspell, Antiquerose!
I think these are regular home beds. I can't think of the name of that mesh type metal but it was common to cover old steam radiators in the 50's. I have also seen hampers with that on them.
I'll watch for some old ads.
AzTom, thanks! And brunswick, thank you also.
I haven't seen one of these in umpteen years. Most were not marked or marked where the frame attaches to the head or foot board. Does it have slats or drop in wire mesh between the side rails? It could be quite early or more modern.
fhrjr2 - I'll have to check and get back with you; we originally had 2 of these - they were for my dad and his brothers while they were still living at home with their parents; puts it approximately 1940's would be my guess. And thanks for loving.
Vetraio50 - thank you!
Looked through a few catalogs, nothing yet. That metal mesh is called Octagonal Cane if it has octagon holes and Round Cane if round holes.
Also note it has cast iron wheels on legs -- should help with dating I think....?
AzTom and antiquerose, thanks so much for your input; I will check the slats and the re-examine the mesh design to see if the holes are octagon or round; but your info gives me new leads, thanks and I appreciate that so much!
early 1900 simmons I have one in full size with wreath and ribbon on foot and headboard
guss, I still can't find anything that matches exactly; may be a lost cause. I have searched Simmons on the internet and they are very close; about the closest I have seen yet. I thank you for the lead, I will continue my search.
Thank you Aura, for the love!
Thank you Brunswick for loving!
