This is a vintage Italian silver compact it opens up like a pocket.
All the compact as a brushed finish, with the front having an additional criss cross engraving pattern. The catch is a Garnet cabochon affixed to the front casing, which then clips through a ring on the over lapping flap. When opened there is a mirror at the top, at the bottom is were you would keep your powder. This still has the powder filter and puff.
It was made in the 1940s, measures 8 cm x 6 cm and is 1 cm thick, weighs approx 75 grams.
I have seen a similar one which I will post to my comments
Many thanks for looking

This is more or less the same but with a different pattern. There is no way I would have paid that price
So elegant, love it!
Thank you Kyra, for your lovely comment.
