I bought a elegant pair of lamps from an antique store about 15 years ago. They are made from Chinese vases, with gold hand painting and raised figural handles, which looks like lizards (I'm sorry, I don't know). The painting looks as if it is depicting warriors going to battle, and the lamps have a carved wooden base. I loved it's classic look, with striking contrasting color. Could anybody tell me more about this beautiful pair of lamps?
Thank you!
Could anybody tell me more about this beautiful pair of lamps? I would appreciate more information on its history, style, etc.
Thank you!
If you are able to take them off the bases could you take a photo and post a shot of the vase base? Thanks
A picture of the bottom would help. The decoration is of a Japanese scene maybe Japanese and not Chinese.
racer4four: I will definitely try to get a picture of the vase base.
grendel67: I thought it actually looked more like a Japanese scene as well, but I was told the vases and scene were Chinese.
Thank you both. I will take a look at the bottom asap and post a picture!
rucklczglass: That makes sense. I'm glad I'm getting feedback, as I am in the dark. One person I know said antique, another circa 1930's. I just took off the foot and cover of the lamp and found the top is scalloped, didn't see anything significant on the base or trim. I'll post a pic of the base and top anyway.
