Hi everybody. This vase is killing me. I thought I saw 90 on the bottom. Now that I cleaned it off, it has either Chinese or Japanese marks completely around the bottom. I don't normally like glass this big but it really has good colors in any light. It is about 6" tall and 5" wide. The colors are towards the bottom. I haven't seen the 90 again. ??
As always I got it at a garage sale.
Nice iridescence. This is not a Japanese shape, and I'm inclined to think not Asian at all. I can't see clearly but are the kanji on the base engraved?
HI racer4four.
It is engraved all along the bottom but it is so small I can't get a good pic of anything. Tried several types of lighting but oh well.
Thank you for your information, it was helpful. One of my not so lucky friends will probably be getting some flowers in it and it will be all theirs. :) ;)
Love your collection!!
Try rubbing some white talc on the engraving and post another few pics on it on another post. Try to get the sun to hit the engraving to for a pic
Ok, I will try this sometime this week. Great idea!!!
Thank you.
Thanks antique, SEAN, vetro and racer.
If I could ever remember to buy white talc.....that would be just shy of a miracle.
LOL....
Talc powder, Baby powder.....Corn starch........flour ...... a wax pencil or even try black soot ( or ashes ). Just take a piece of paper and burn a bit of the edges and rub it on your finger, then rub it on where you see a signature. Fine White powder things work good for clear and dark items -- but sometimes even some soot/ashes will do the job.
~ Gotta think outside the box. As long as you can wash it off after your Okay...LOL
I tried and well..no luck but that's ok. It is so pretty.
Thanks for the loves: aura and mike. :)
Thanks for the love Thomas. This one of the first things I found when the bug hit me and I now think all I saw was base ware. It was a quarter or free but it is so pretty.
