Been real busy the last few months, this is one of the nicer pieces I've found. Title says it all, its a Yoshida, and I personally like the image. Looks like it might be a 1st edition too. I think this was its first frame because of that burlap/silk stuff on the frame, and it was framed in Japan according to the label on the back. I just love Japanese woodblocks.... Especially the shin-hanga style, which Yoshida was one of the two greatest artists in that post-war school, along with Hasui (of whom I dream of finding a 1st ed. one day). Gonna take it out of the frame tomorrow and see what's going on inside. The photos make it look all new, but the frame is OLD and brown and falling apart. Hope you all liked, thanks for checkin it out
Beautiful !...what a score Still !....congrats :)
Hopefully you will be able to see the edge of the print and wasn't trimmed off should have other printer marks on the edge or signature mark at the bottom edge. Here is a good site to look up prints from a picture and compare yours if it is in the database. The site will search collections that are at museums all over the world so you can see different versions of the same print and compare to yours. http://ukiyo-e.org/
Thank you for the info Grendel. I will be sure to make use of it
What a beautiful woodblock print!
