I acquired this from an auction. I had no clue what it was, but knew it must have a story. So far I haven't found any info on it. It is 24 1/2" from end to end. The bar looks like hand forged iron. The end with the disc shaped wood is 5" diameter and approx. 2" thick. The other end which is wood is 7" long and 4" diameter at end. Might it have something to do with leather? All comments greatly appreciated.

No clue here -- Just guesses ?
Rose, maybe you have pointed the right direction. Probably too light for driving a post, but maybe for tamping the soil around them or tamping soil for other uses.
