This is a 1/35th scale model of the Sturmgeschütz III. It was based on the chassis of the Panzer Mk III. It was originally meant to be an assault gun which was meant for taking out fortifications. But it ended up as a tank destroyer. Tank destroyers were like tanks but had a fixed gun and no turret. They had heavier armor and a larger gun than the tank on which they based. The Sturmgeschütz III had a high velocity 75 mm gun as opposed to the 37mm on the originally vehicle.
The additional plates hung on the side were for protection from rockets like bazookas. They were made from low grade steel. Eventually they learned chain link fencing worked just as well
In the last photo I have a Jagdpanther in the same scale to show the size difference between the early vehicles and those later in WWII.
Sadly I do recall which company made the model. Made it 20-30 years ago.
