Hello,
I found these paintings in a plastic container and wondering what they may be? They have tin backing. It looks like pictures were either painted on the tin, or on the glass. They have gold outlines.
It is the life of jesus, with writing in French at the bottom.
It is 5 3/4 in long x 3 1/2 in wide x 1/4 in thick
I have 15 of them.
Any information would be great. I can't find a signature, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist
Is the French on them all the same or are they different? The one you have in pic. 2 reads "Jésus rencontre sa très Sainte Mère" (Jesus meets his mother).
I think there might be the Roman numeral IV before the French?
If so it might be the 'Fourth Station of the Cross'.
But there are fourteen Stations.

ditto what Kevin said. Stations of the cross. can you post a pic of all 15 of them, so we can figure out why there are 15?
You are correct, I completely mis-counted, lets say it was the wine which made me see double . I also must be missing one of them because I only have 13. yes there are roman numerals in front of all of them. Looking forward to finding out what they are

They are the Stations of the Cross aka the Via Crucis.
They are put up on the wall .... a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion.
The phrase also refers to the prayers Catholics say when contemplating the images.

Stations of the cross are generally found in churches. What is the size? In England wealthy landowners had chapels on their estates, these could have come from an estate chapel. Smaller than that, perhaps a person who was very devout.
