    (1 item)

    Hello,

The picture, which I hope is clear enough, is a collection of my husband's John Deere farm toys that he received somewhere in about 1959 to 1963 - he can't exactly remember. His understanding was that they were provided to his uncle as promotional items back then.

I've been trying to identify the pieces in the photo (using google) and so far, I think I know what all of the items are except one item. (I know this is probably obvious to collectors of vintage farm toys, but I don't know anything about them). It is the tractor on the far left with the caterpillar wheels (which don't have the caterpillar treads on them).

I've googled bulldozer, caterpillar wheels, along with John Deere Vintage Toys, but I can't find anything that looks similar other than much newer toys.

Would anybody know what the name of that "bulldozer" is. I can provide further pictures if anyone is interested in looking at the collection closer up.

    Thanks, Barb

Gotta love JD !! My blood bleeds *green*

Older pieces should be marked ERTL and USA.....Not China. Plus have to know the SCALE size they are too for researching

      Here some worthy sites:

      http://www.redwagonantiques.com/farmtoys/deere.html

I have posted some of my JD things too. I have some older JD toys like this too, just have not got to them ( they are in Storage ) LOL

      ........and WELCOME !!

Thank-you so much for your reply.

I checked a few of the sites, and indeed, I found that the tractor I was looking for is called a "Crawler Tractor". Subsequently, I've been able to find one that looks like mine online.

So, thanks again. As near as I can tell, our set is 1:16 as some of the pieces match exactly others that I've seen online. Definitely, they are not made in China - my husband was a boy when he received them in late 1950s/early 60s, and they are marked U.S.A.
