I've always been very fond of Peasant Jewelry and thereby so fortunate to have some beautiful pieces not only from my own country, but today I can add to my previous lovely French jewel my Papillon Cross (1800-1840) in Belgium called Croix de la Jeanette.
This latest treasure is one of those wonderful antique peasant jewelry from France to be precise also from Normandy.
This Silver Saint Lô Cross of French Croix de Saint Lô Pendant is my find of the month! It's an early model (circa 1790-1830) , diamonds not rhinestones. Set in silver back site (as usual in those days) rose gold.
Here is the page for with diamonds Normandy crosses and this one shows similarities with the Saint Lô cross (which design evolved with time!)

I hope you enjoy like I do !

There are (two on the front right site and one on the left site ) three different hallmarks. They are so incredibly small that I can not decipher unfortunately. Perhaps you have some idea.

kyratango, thanks, do you recognize this mark as hare head or is it another mark ?
    5. kyratango kyratango, 9 years ago
Can't see clearly as it is partial... perhaps the girafe's head?

Hura, I found it there are indeed several Croix de Lo but not as old as this one I believe. Also regarding bijouxregionaux.fr the text relates to this site. I put on another photo of the mark perhaps you can see it. But I have to let you know that this hallmark is on a gold little piece of the cross.

Hello Agram! Hope all is well with you. I am enjoying looking through your jewelrybox again :) I love it. This is a fantastic necklace. The design and the setting of the stones makes me wonder if this is not older than 1800-1810? It screams 1700th century to me :) I don't mean to question you my friend but I am interested in what made you certain about the time it was made? Is it the mark? Could a controlmark have been stamped on it later, say for example if it was imported some time after it was made?
