    I re-purpose vintage tools, I found this at a flea market. I asked the seller if he knew what it was but unfortunately he did not.

    The top band acts as a spring. The center pin goes into the opposing hole when closed. It weighs about 1 pound 6 ounces.

    If anyone has any idea what it is and what it was used for I would appreciate it.

      Looks like it is supposed to fit over 2 toggle joints, as if to draw them together, but what force would work on it? That outside thing is a spring? Very strong?

      It looks a lot like the clamping jaw used in a brace and bit type drill. Perhaps a large one?
