Very unique drum style canteen with hand carved sailing ship image and "From Platsburg 1812" inscribed (upside down). Reverse side stamped RENTO and (B)ELL. Hand carved letters ACK on top of same side. Width is 7" and depth is 3". This has been in the family for 50 years, found in a barn in upstate New York.
Fantastic find. I assume the strap is not original.
