A Liberty jam spoon, designed by Archibald Knox for Edward VII's Coronation in 1902. Typically of Liberty's entrepreneurial style, the spoon was re-issued as a jam spoon in the 1905 catalogue. The new form of the spoon (minus the Coronation inscription) was enamelled beautifully on the handle by the manufacturer WH Haseler of Birmingham.
Quality.
What a little STUNNER !!!!!!
Beautiful!
What a beautiful spoon! Art.
Yum Yum!
Looks like something Alexander Ritchie would have made on Iona...beautiful.
Moonhill's comment is interesting; I'm not sure if Alec Ritchie would have made something quite like that although the reference to Celtic interlace is very apparent. Many of Ritchie's spoon (and fork) designs tended to be based on or extrapolated from the amazing 12th century Iona Nunnery spoon
How can anyone not love A. Knox!!
