I FOUND THIS IN A DESK BELONGING TO A RELATIVE FROM LONG AGO. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS? IT SAYS MADE IN ENGLAND ON IT AND HAS AN UNUSUAL PATTERN OF ROUND DIMPLES IN RECTANGULAR BOXES ON ONE SIDE. IT APPEARS TO BE MADE OF CAST OR FORGED IRON AND SPRING STEEL. HELP! 4 1/2" X 2 1/2" X 1"
LOL I have not the slightest idea - but it is interesting!
mouth organ or Jew's harp
Thank you very much!
you're very welcome. also has other similar sounding names: jaw harp or juice harp. Lots of YouTube videos...
I play my jew's harp in the mast on the R M S QUEEN MARY this year.
This is a mouth harp, sometimes called a Jew's harp. Often heard in Native American songs. This song features the mouth harp:

Does anyone know how old it might be? I saw one that appeared to be identical. It was said to be "Civil War Era".
They are still making them two day.
