From what I've found out from the makers stamp, it was likely made by a Winnipeg, Manitoba company. The owner moved there from ontario in 1881 and set up shop with his brother in 1883.
The piece is stamped no.672 so I can't imagine it being a really late piece, so I'm going to guess between 1890-1900.
My great grandma would have purchased it.
The makers son took over the company eventually, then his granddaughter (who's Linked in profile I've actually seen! She currently works with a government program) The company is now closed.
It's been restored as it's had heavy use and was missing most of the original knobs, eroded nails (it wouldn't have made it one more house move hadn't it been restored).
I'm very excited to have taken this piece over from my mom.
Love it -- I'd called it a SideBoard Table. We do not give out values here, as that is explained when you joined.
Welcome -- love to see more !!
Ahh I didn't read that. d'oi, I'm sorry. But yeah, it's stunning, I'm very excited to have it. My mom passed away last year and I just moved it in. I have pictures sitting on it when I was as young as two years.
Thanks for the reply.
