It's fitting that the Edwardian period is also known as "La Belle Epoque (The Beautiful Era)." This postcard is from 1907 and is of one of the small towns that still exist on the prairie, among the many ghost towns which people of our age knew well, when there were still a few souls living around them.
" The Goose Lake Special " Pulling Into Hanley
When I first started to collect postcards in 1985 after moving a lot in the early 80's, it was wonderful to find the oldies like this that had the feeling of myself as being the writer. I particularly love the small towns which have disappeared or turned to ghost towns. This one reads like a poem:
    " Autumn is gone
    Winter has come
    and I am still here
    and I expect to be
    So you see, you have
    lost your bet
    Good-bye B. "
I just bought this card last week. Sept. 28, 2015 arrived Oct. 05, 2015
It was written to a Mr. Andrew G. Laurie of Ayr, Ontario. What I find amazing is that it was postmarked Dec 5, 1907 from Davidson, Sask., and arrived in Ayr, Ontario in Dec. 9, 1907 and that is only 4 days. This is a great distance which would take our modern cars about 3 full days of steady driving today !

At a time when I should be selling postcards, I find I am buying more than ever...

Super Great Post!! Been there -- literally!!!!!

Amazing what you pointed out about the time it took back in those days. That was VERY QUICK. I just waited over 7 days to get correspondence from British Columbia ( B.C. - Canada ) and it was Xpress Post

....Next time - I am DOING the PONY EXPRESS........lol
