I have never seen Hoya jewellery for sale outside Japan and just happened to stumble across these three pieces. They demonstrate Hoya's ability to use crystal in unusual ways, and excel at producing it.
The ring is very modernist, and as I would imagine for Japanese hands, quite small. The colour is a gorgeous crimson, and beautifully shown here on Vincent's sweet little hand.
The cameo style pendant is cut intaglio, with a beautiful cut edge to set it off. I love the light blue of this, and the colour is just enough to make the lovely lady stand out.
The third pendant has been moulded and polished, and is clearly a shell, again in a wonderful colour. Both the pendants are nicely finished with hardware and chains of filled gold.
Pretty happy to have these, and yes! I will wear them.
Nice Karen, I see your starting to collect jewellery. I was wondering if you could look at the glass pendant with the enamelling. I've looked everywhere I can think of, could you tell me if there is a name for this type of enamel work, I don't want to give up on it. Thanks
This is interesting why they went towards optical glass and resigned of these small gems.Perhaps they thought it was frivolous :-)
Yum... Eye candies! :-))
I hope it's okay to call you Karen? I especially really, really love the intaglio blue glass pendant. Very envious! I just purchased a Whiting & Davis intaglio glass cameo ring, not a patch on your pendant, but there is a slight resemblance in the profile.

Looove the cameo pendant, Karen.
lovely jewels!!!!!!!!
Love the light blue one!...but all three nice...:-)
I had a look Jean and can't help....just admire.
Ivonne I don't think jewellery was ever big for Hoya, and they totally stopped crystal home wares production in 2009 mainly for financial reasons. I have only ever seen 1 other piece of their jewellery, another ring, so I don't think it was a big success.
Thanks Kyra.
Gillian you can call me Karen, no worries.
I can see the resemblance in that lovely WD ring....nice purchase! I'm such a jewellery noon I didn't even know they made jewelery, just handbags!
Thanks to the lovely cheer squad:

I keep coming back to stare at that ring.....beyond beautiful....
Thanks Bonnie....it is a bit of a sleeper really.
Karen, first off....WOW!!!! these are very cool. I really like the consept and hue of the cameo style piece, very stunning.
And also just wanted to say "Thanks" for all the warm welcome back comments, means a lot to hear.
Kerry
stunning you lucky thing, how beautiful...you were lucky to grab them...Is Hoya internationally known? It sounds familiar...
Thanks Kerry - hope improvement is continuing.
Thanks Anne!
Hoya were very well known for crystal homewares but stopped production in 2009. They now only make camera lenses and lenses for spectacles, which is where you may know the name.
