This is a couple pieces of an intact 9-piece dining room set I have. It's where we eat the family meals. As much of the time here, equaled to what time we spend doing the same in the breakfast room. I have the table, the buffet, china cabinet and six chairs with one being an arm captain chair. The burl inlay on two of the pieces (cabinet & buffet) is gorgeous. I'm told that having the entire "intact set" that was made in the early 1900's, is a rare bird indeed.
I would have taken some pics of the other pieces but I have "tax time" papers all over the top of the table and buffet, and even a couple of the chairs. I did find a pic of a view of most of the table before I trashed it with papers but would like to show a view of the leaf extension along with the intricate leg work and bracing underneath the table and of course the buffet.
I bought the table and the rest of the set, which included a very nice custom made pad from an individual that was in a "moving, must sell quickly" situation approx 12-15 years ago. The seller actually had a person there at her house that was waiting to see if I was going to show up to pay the remaining balance from being there earlier and having gone to rent a truck to transport the furniture home. This potential rival buyer had offered $300 more than our earlier pre agreed to price. When I found this out, I added an additional $100 to the price out of gratitude for the lady keeping to our original verbal sales agreement. Then when I became divorced, this set and its future "whereabouts" was again "center stage". But fortunately, although negotiations were tense and somewhat heated, it was I that prevailed on this group of furniture. But of all I have, the other half got some equally nice pieces when the final negotiations were ultimately decided.
Damn, I hate this "tax" time of year.
ive always loved any burl furniture
very nice
Excellent set,is it for sale? LOL Just kidding of course...it is truly a beauty
Thank you Dottie & Andy for your kind words. And just for the record, every piece has a story & a price. LOL ...... Except this D.R. set.
Oh also, I'm not gonna wait til my tax papers are all finished & cleaned up. (I may file an extension lol) I'm gonna at least post a pic of the regular chair (1 of 5) along with the arm "captains chair" in a post later today. Thanks guys for taking the time to look and for your comments. I appreciate it.
Were you were able to take more photos? Beautiful! Just beautiful! I have a hutch almost identical to this. Do you know the maker of yours?? Thank you for sharing!
Love seeing these pieces and very smart to buy "sets". I remember the 2nd hand furniture and new reproduction furniture being highlighted in stores then, Just like now when you have to put 5000 dollars down just to shop in some furniture showrooms !~
