I had a great console years ago, and decided that I wanted another (in Danish/Mid Century style). I found this one at a flea market for $20.00. Well, it turned out to not work very well, and it was waterlogged. It was also made of veneered particle board. So, with all that going on I didn't feel I would be ruining an historical piece of furniture so it'd been changed into what you see here. The elcetronics have all been replaced with the exception of the speakers. The original Alnicos sound great, but I will be adding a crossover network and tweeters. I still have the originals and hope to get around to repairing them one day. The major changes are in the aesthetics, you can see the original design of the console in the last picture.
Great renovation..... Nice work!!
You have done a super job!! This console has been given a new life.
Wow, thanks!
It really is beautiful. Much more appealing to the eye than the original.
Thanks Efesgirl, I thought so too. The Teak bowl on top might be a bit much though, Ha!!
Oh not at all - the teak bowl looks fine! Find some pretty blown glass fruit for inside the bowl and there's your splash of color. :-)
