    Hi my colleagues!

I have found these frames in Barcelona, they seem all pretty old but of course surprise! I don't know how old. One of them is not in a great condition and has been patched several times, I don't know how to restore it. The one with a hole seems to be made of leather and I'm not sure what it was, maybe a mirror, any idea on what should I use to clean it a bit?.

Any idea would be welcome on restoration and how to date them somehow.

    Gracias!

Hi there...I have been doing a bit of research on frames lately, well, trying to anyway, one thing I know for sure is that many times the frame can (I repeat, can) be worth more than a picture inside. Please don't get rid of paintings or pictures anyone...

I find the one on the left very interesting, is that the one you are speaking of that you believe is leather? Even the other wood one is nice. It looks like it may have had gold gilt on it at some point. The thing about old frames that many overlook is that they were hand carved and all wood. (Don't know about the leather at all) The oval one most likely had the convex or domed shape glass, which is hard to find.

I have a link for you where you can at least get a better idea about frames and their worth. Or at least their worth here in the States. I would imagine it would apply for anyone, but not sure.

This was not my original link I wanted to send you but I couldn't find that one...this one is new to me too. Venture thru it and see what you can find. I will too.

Scratch that! Here's the one I was talking about in the first place. You'll have to do a lot of scrolling and clicking but it's got plenty of info! Here you go:
