This was my Me Ma's fine china. I have the full intact set for eight. Including platters, gravy bowl, large and small plates, bowls and cups and saucers. It is by far my nicest set of china. I have both grandmothers china along with my moms Noritaki. I have china sets coming out my ears. Or I guess if you can call three sets, coming out your ears. And what do I mostly eat on? Paper plates and plastic glasses. This stuff only gets used when I entertain. And that's been about 4 times for my entire life. Entertaining to me is a back yard cook out with some rib eyes, lobsters and a tub of Corona's with a half dozen limes.
No!! No!! use it!!! I know we as a culture have gone casual, but, a touch of elegance and formal servings are refreshing. Remember, it will become popular again!! Our children and g randchildren need to be familar with the beautiful settings of china and crystal, etc.... USE IT!!!!!
Oh... alright... I'll use it the next time someone's here besides just me. My boys just left to go back to their moms after spending most of spring break here with me, but when they come back in about 10 days, I promise to use it. You know, you're actually right, having three sets of formal china and hardly ever using it make zero sense. Cis I think you just woke me up to a new reality. Thanks a bunch!
Great. You have posted some very nice things- they need to be seen!!
Thank you again for the compliment & the comment. I just posted examples of china set #2 of 3. It was my moms "Noritake". Oh and by the way, I was just kidding with the "sarcastic" "Oh...alright... of my last comment here. Thanks again for your participation.
