I found these in a local vintage shop, and bought them on impulse! I love pink and green together, and even better they are sprinkled with golden fairy dust! There's a lot on the leaves. They appear to be made of two layers of glass, with applied stalk and leaves.
I don't know their origin but am guessing Italian....
Please correct me if I'm mistaken.
Length 12 cm./4.5 inches
yummy!!
Thank you SEAN.....perfect comment :-)
your very welcome sklo!!
Nice pieces, you can use it as a Christmas tree decorations as they have hooks :-)
Nice idea, Ivonne, I'd not thought thought of that:-)
Oh these are just perfectly wonderful, sklo! :)
Thank you, katherine... seems you understand why I bought something I don't collect :-)
These would look beautiful in your mother of pearl bowl!
Love them and I think that Ivonne's idea of putting them on the Christmas tree is lovely..I too love pink and green together!...:-)
wonderful
A lovely idea, Karen, but the bowl was too small.....food for thought though :-)
Hi inky, they'll definitely have to feature at Christmas :-)
Hi kivatinitz, glad you like them, thanks :-)
That's how a collection begins, lol!
They are so appealing... Would have bought too :-))
Murano!
Thanks kyratango, for seeing their appeal too...but I can't start another collection!!
Thank you, Dizzydave, for troubling to help.
I've bought and sold many pieces of Murano fruit throughout the years Peggy, and I've never seen them with the leaves flat to the fruit in this manner. However, here's a very similar piece listed on ebay, with the same leaf detail: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-BAROVIER-TOSO-ITALIAN-MURANO-PEPPER-ART-GLASS-FRUIT-SCULPTURE-GOLD-/371437824046 It's attributed to Barovier and Toso (B&T) which I doubt. Here's another - with the same leaf treatment as yours - which IS B&T, having their signature Cordonato d'Oro Decor. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-BAROVIER-TOSO-ITALIAN-MURANO-ZUCCHINI-ART-GLASS-FRUIT-SCULPTURE-GOLD/371437827913?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140602152332%26meid%3De4a847d6cd124df89d4dbde3d168da58%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D371411030338 Having said that, they're definitely quality pieces of glass, having beautiful gold aventurine, and based on the examples, I believe they're Murano. Great find!
Rick, It is so kind of you to take the time to search for similar pieces to illustrate your comment on what these fruits are. Truth to tell I'd trust your opinion just on account of the glass you have..... A big thank you!
You're so welcome Peggy. I try to not give an opinion without supporting it through examples whenever possible, so a little extra research doesn't bother me.
Oh please, so magic, love!
So pleased you like them too, Virginia.vintage :-)
