I just bought this art deco necklace. It´s in machine age style and I´m pritty sure it´s from the 1930´s. It "feels" right in signs of wear, and in the details. It seams to be a chrome metall necklace. I´m not sure what the coral coloured beads are made of, they feel like glass or maybe a very hard plastic of some sort. It looks like the beads have been made out of two solid halves put together, but they don´t look moulded. Rather that two pieces of something hard that has meen fused or something to eachother. I´ve wondered about why you would make them like this? Maybe the company who made it also made similar models using half beads (I´ve seen a very similar necklace by Bengel with half beads) it would make sense to try and use them in more ways than one.

I would be surpriced if it was not made in Germany or France. But I am
very grateful for ideas/input on what material it could be in the beads and also if any one knows what company made this? Is it a Jacob Bengel necklace? It looks very well made and it's about 44 cm in lenght from clasp to clasp.

Hello Valentino! Thanks for your nice e-mail. Sorry I haven't answered you yet. I look forward to the referens you will email me. Thankyou so much! Nice to hear you have the same idea on age and origin and that you like it. I find these types of necklaces fun and modern. Still :)

      Hi Elisabethan!
Your necklace is beautiful and I'm pretty sure it is by Bengel. Its stucture is very reminiscent of Bengel's work. The coral beads are probably made of glass. A simple test consists in clinking the beads against your teeth (plastics - galalith / bakelite - won't feel the same). On this page, there is a Bengel necklace with coral glass beads and if you look carefully at it, the central coral bead has a thin line justs like the beads of your necklace... :)

Not exactly the same, but the red beaded necklace is similar in style.

Hello Betty1978! Thankyou so very much for your nice answer. I tested it your way and I am pritty sure now that the beads are glass. Thankyou! Thanks for the link, I've used it before. Think that it was you who gave it to me earlier regarding another post. Thanks again. It was interesting to hear your opinion. I actually suddenly got the Idea to write to the Bengel museum and ask. You had not answered me yet then. I'll see if they
answer me. I agree about the similarity you mentioned. Take care!
