I know nothing about this choker I'm presuming it's Victorian. Its not marked but I have tested it for high grade silver, so I'm thinking it's probably from the UK but I'm not sure. Its a heavy piece and It's a very pretty choker with what I would describe has two belcher chains and in between the chains are flowers surrounded by filigree. It look wonderful on and rest prefectly around the neck. I'm sure I've seen a similar one but I can't recall, I was wondering if they have a name for this type of choker.
    Many thanks for looking

Superb filigree work, and nice old patina!!!
Great thing it wears comfortably too, this is not often the case with chokers...

So pretty!! Jewelry made in the UK would carry hallmarks.
I had an 1800s silver bracelet made in the Netherlands which had that same kind of double chain.

No not at all Elesgirl, most of my silver jewellery has been made in the UK, I would say 80 percent are not Hallmarked. The arts and craft people almost never hallmarked theirs, typical example Bernard Instone, the two items I've posted today the ring and the brooch by the Mumfords, no hallmark. Apparently if they had a stone in the piece you didn't have to have them marked.
I'm interested that you had a bracelet with a double chain, maybe this could be continental.

it is true in the second part of 1800 there were many smiths that worked without paying taxes....also in glass works. Wonderful sterling work

I believe that was the case kivatinitz, about the taxes on Jewellery, I didn't know it was also the same for glass work.

Hi Agram.m, it does look like lace, I would imagine there were many hours of work went into this piece. Thanks for your interest and comment.
